TEAM SUN MENTORS!!!
I have been waiting for over a month to share the mentors on Team Sun with everyone! This group consists of some of the most talented, kind, and well pretty much totally-made-of-awesomeness writers on the planet (Okay, so I may be a little biased :-P)
The assembled team is going to read the selected entries (both the queries and first 250) and then provide feedback. I know with their help the selected entries for TEAM SUN will have absolutely stunning materials to share with our 15 agents!
So here are the brilliant writers on Team Sun. Please give them a shout-out on Twitter (using #sunvssnow) and thank them for donating their time!
In sixth grade, Brooks Benjamin formed a New Kids on the Block tribute dance crew called the New Kidz. He wasn’t that good at dancing back then. But now he’s got a new crew—his wife and their dog. They live in Tennessee, where he teaches reading and writing and occasionally busts out a few dance moves. He’s still not much better at it.
In his debut MG contemporary novel, MY SEVENTH GRADE LIFE IN TIGHTS (Spring 2016 from Random House/Delacorte), dance studios are for sell-outs. At least that’s what Dillon’s dance crew keeps saying. But when a chance to compete at the biggest dance academy in the state falls in his lap, he has to decide what’s more important: sticking to his crew’s rules or freestyling his way into solo greatness. For more on Brooks, check out his website or find him on Twitter – @brooksbenjamin.
Jennifer Blackwood is an English teacher and New Adult author. She lives in Oregon with her husband, son, and poorly behaved black lab puppy. When she isn’t writing or teaching, she’s binging on Veronica Mars episodes and white cheddar popcorn. She is the author of Unethical and Foolproof (coming out January 26th!). She is represented by the fabulous Courtney Miller-Callihan from Greenburger Associates. For more on Jennifer, check out her website or find her on Twitter – @
Ava Jae is a YA and NA writer, an Assistant Editor at Entangled Publishing, and is represented by Louise Fury of The Bent Agency. Her YA Sci-Fi debut, BEYOND THE RED, is releasing March 2016 from Sky Pony Press. When she’s not writing about kissing, superpowers, explosions, and aliens, you can find her with her nose buried in a book, nerding out over the latest X-Men news, or hanging out on her blog, Twitter, Facebook, tumblr, Goodreads, Instagram, or YouTube channel.
Rachel Simon is a YA contemporary writer represented by Carrie Howland of Donadio & Olsen, Inc. Originally from northern New Jersey (way better than popular culture leads you to believe, seriously), she now lives in Boston (where she does not root for the Red Sox). When not writing or reading (her goal is 300 books for 2015), she enjoys tea, traveling and nice boys in YA books. She wants to grow up to be Katherine Applegate. For more on Rachel, check out her blog or find her on Twitter – @.
Submission window for the contest opens this Monday, January 26 at 4 pm EST. We are only taking the first 200 entries!
